Bangkok Airways have announced plans to open up a new route connecting Samui and Kuala Lumpur from this March (2012). The Malaysian capital will only be the third international destination to see direct connectivity to the island (the others being Singapore and Hong Kong), but it’s seen as a step forward for the prosperity of the island.

Reports are emerging of a new 12 Billion Thai Baht hotel resort, which includes, among other things, an indoor ski slope.
Suggestions are that the resort is to be located north of Chaweng and will consist of; a 250 room, five star resort with conference facilities; a sports academy and stadium; a four star hotel; and a complex of luxury apartments and villas.
